Good afternoon, fateful friends!

Ordinarily, we'd start this off by asking how you're enjoying the game, but if you're viewing this: You're probably a frustrated Mac user who hasn't been able to play! Not to worry: We are sympathetic to the plight of Apple-only users who want to download games from "unidentified developers," so hopefully we have some potential fixes for you now:

Option 1: Use the Itch.io App Launcher

This is probably the best option from a simplicity perspective, and may be the only direct download option if your computer is refusing to actually download the app at all (grr). If you can download the launcher, it seems to bypass the internal snipers in your Mac that don't trust scary 3rd party applications, such as dating sims (AAAH!!). Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Download itchio's launcher app: http://itch.io/app

2. Download The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) by Moirai Myths via launcher app

3. Play through the launcher app

Option 2: Run Through Terminal

Don't want to download an app launcher? We get it! Running the game through Terminal should work as well, because for some reason a simple "double tap" + "open" is too much to ask for. Note: This one may be slightly more complicated, because your computer might force you to bypass some security measures first. Here's how to do both:

Security Bypass:

1. After downloading, open your System Settings app (this is usually accessible on your taskbar, but if not, click the Apple icon in the top left of your computer and select "System Settings" that way)

2. Under "System Settings", go to "Privacy and Security" and scroll down to the "Security" section

3. If our app (likely labelled "NaDaoineMaithe") appears under the "Security" section, make sure "Open Anyway" is selected. If not, proceed to the next step

4. Return to the downloaded application and first try to double tap/right click and select "Open". You will receive a warning since we are an unknown developer to Apple. If the app launches but immediately crashes (i.e. the icon briefly appears on your taskbar), proceed to the next set of instructions

Launch Through Terminal:

1. Double tap or right click the application and select "Show Package Contents"

2. Navigate from the "Contents" to "MacOS" folder

3. Click "NaDaoineMaithe" and launch through Terminal

Option 3: Run Through Steam

This is another fairly simple option in the event you don't want to jump through hoops to get the direct download to launch! However, if your country or computer doesn't run Steam, then it may be a non-option. Nonetheless, all you have to do for this option is:

1. Create a Steam account and download the Steam launcher via the Steam website (linked)

2. In the Steam launcher app, navigate to The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe)'s Steam page (linked, but you can also just search for "The Good People" and we should pop up)

3. Download the demo

Option 4: The "I'm Desperate" Terrible Browser Version

Look, this...this is truly a "I have no other options" type option. NDM is definitely not intended to be played in a browser, and it shows, but if you have no other choice, here: https://moiraimyths.itch.io/tgp-browser

Some tips: If you have a VPN, disable it, since that will slow the game down. Chrome browsers seem to work best for running the game. Mobile probably won't work, but godspeed if you try?

Disclaimer: We have no intention to make the paid version of the game available for the browser, so you will only be able to play the demo. In that sense, if none of the above options work, this is at best a temporary maybe-solution! We don't have the ability to port to mobile, sadly, so the full game is restricted to computer-only. 😔
